Invest in real estate
Probably all of us these days wonder why we didn't invest in property sooner or at least secure our own home. Read our article and find more about investments to real estate.
The Lesser Town of Prague and its part called Kampa have a unique genius loci. It is where a property boasting one of the most remarkable house signs in Prague is situated, with its styles ranging from the Baroque to classicism. We would like to introduce to you the Blue Fox House, whose portal proudly bears the year of 1664.
This two-storey corner house with a stone portal, situated in Na Kampě street, has witnessed the gradual development of Prague’s Kampa Island, dubbed “Prague Venice”, since the seventeenth century. The location of the house in the immediate neighbourhood of the Werich Villa, opposite the Lichtenstein Palace, built in 1696, and Sovovy mlýny (Sova Mills) and Velkopřerovský mlýn (Grand Prior Mill), which has the largest mill-wheel in Europe, suggests that it is a truly extraordinary property, not offered on the real estate market every day.
The island of Kampa is where many famous people have lived. Today’s Werich Villa was the home of one of the most important figures of the Czech national revival, Josef Dobrovský, prominent playwright and actor Jan Werich, and poet Vladimír Holan. Others who lived in Kampa include writers Alois Mrštík and Karel Matěj Čapek-Chod, actor Eduard Kohout and artist Jiří Trnka. The island was also a favourite place of the first Czechoslovak President, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, who took delight in walking there. And the Blue Fox House was the home of actor Jiří Voskovec from 1935 (except for the WWII years) until 1948.
If you want to become part of the Lesser Town’s history and remarkable genius loci, you have the unique opportunity to do so right now. The Blue Fox House is now being offered for sale by Philip & Frank. Our broker, Nicolas Peknik, will be happy to provide details and give you a tour of all the outstanding parts of this wonderful house.
Above its main entrance, the Blue Fox House is adorned by its sign consisting of a blue fox, complemented by a painting of the Infant Jesus of Prague in the upper part. Both works of art are surrounded by a rococo stucco frame. The windows are bordered by chambranles with crossettes.
The main building is connected to a single-section courtyard wing with two barrel-vaulted cellars. There are joist ceilings on the ground floor, a cloister vault in the right-hand rear room, and Renaissance-style cross vaults. The side facade is adorned by a compressed vault with triangular sectors above the windows.
The whole building underwent sensitive reconstruction in 1995–1996, during which additional partitions and brickwork were removed. The joist beams on the ground floor were uncovered and a mezzanine was installed in the attic. Another reconstruction including general repair of both the interior and exterior took place after the 2002 flood.
The Blue Fox House is currently used by the Estonian Embassy as an exhibition venue and cultural centre.
A detailed description of the Blue Fox House (Dům U Modré lišky), with its total area of 414.17m2, and contact information of Nicolas Peknik, who will be happy to introduce this exclusive property to you in person or in a video call, can be found HERE.

We have been cooperating with Philip & Frank brokers for a few years. Throughout that time it has been proved that it was a good choice. We are especially satisfied with their transparency and regular information about the progress of each project. At the same time we have always been in control of all decision-making. We will be happy to recommend them and their legal services to our friends and relatives. It was our pleasure warking with them.
While we were selling our flat, we approached the brokers of Philip & Frank who had been recommended to us. I was really satisfied and delighted. Their truly professional approach – meetings with us, organization of tours of the flat with clients and arranging the formal aspects of the sale, including cooperation with an excellent lawyer – was astonishing. I appreciate their competence and I recommend this real estate agency to other clients.
Thanks to the professionalism of Philip & Frank real estate brokers I learned that even purchasing a property can be a pleasant experience.
